Delete your account

1. Open the OMW! Carpool app and sign in.
2. Go to the Account tab (bottom right).
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap 🗑️ Delete account.
4. Confirm twice when prompted. This is permanent and cannot be undone.

Your account and data are deleted immediately and you are signed out.

If you can no longer sign in, email us from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We action requests within 30 days.

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

• Your sign-in account and credentials
• Your profile — name, date of birth, gender, home city and profile photo
• Your South African ID number
• Your public profile, as seen by other members
• Your saved bank account details
• Your contact details — email address and phone number

A small amount of data is retained after deletion, for legal, safety and accounting reasons:

• A record that your ID number completed identity verification, kept without your name or contact details. This stops the identity-verification limits being reset by deleting and recreating an account.
• Completed trip and payment records, retained as financial records as required by South African law. These are held by us and by our payment provider, TradeSafe.
• Safety records — any reports made about or by your account, and dispute records, kept so we can protect other members.
• Messages you sent to other members remain visible in their chat history, in the same way an email you have sent stays in the recipient's inbox.

Retained records are kept only as long as necessary for these purposes, then deleted.
